Meet Charmaine & Melissa.
The passionate founders of Speech Alliance.

Former colleagues turned friends, they share a love for speech therapy and baking bread. United by their mission to enhance clients' quality of life and empower caregivers, they took a leap of faith and established Speech Alliance. With a client-centered approach, they provide personalised therapy that not only improves communication but also enriches lives.

Our Speech Therapists

Melissa Ong

Melissa attained her Master of Speech and Language Pathology from the University of Sydney in 2013.

Melissa is a passionate speech therapist with years of experience working with the paediatric population in communication. She has worked in a variety of settings ranging from acute hospital, private practice, community, schools and homes. Melissa strongly believes in the importance of providing individualised and holistic intervention in a positive and motivating environment for children to maximise their potential.

 

She is fluent in both English and Mandarin, allowing her to connect with families from various backgrounds. She enjoys conducting trainings, and is a strong advocate for empowering caregivers with strategies to engage and connect with their children. Melissa has also provided clinical supervision to speech therapists and speech therapy students.

In her free time, Melissa loves an intense workout which she believes is necessary to keep up with the energy levels of her 2 boys. She enjoys baking for her family and diving to explore the underwater world where she feels most at peace.

Charmaine Tan

 Charmaine Tan Speech Therapist

Charmaine received her Master of Speech Pathology from

Flinders University in 2016.

Charmaine loves working with children and their families. She strongly believes that play is a medium for learning and strives to create fun and meaningful play activities to actively engage her clients.
 

Charmaine has many years of experience providing individual and group intervention to children and adolescents with various developmental conditions. She has worked in diverse settings including early intervention centres, private clinics, and in both mainstream and special schools.

Charmaine also conducts parent and teacher trainings, and has provided clinical supervision to speech therapists. She is fluent in English and Mandarin, and has basic proficiency in Teochew.

 

In her free time, Charmaine loves the sensory and meditative aspects of bread baking. She enjoys outdoor activities like running and hiking as well. As an avid reader, she delights in sharing the joy of reading with her baby.
